Hard Rain: our headlong collision with nature

14 September 2009, 13:00- 14:00
Room B7/8,
Stockholm International Fairs (Stockholmsmässan)

European Offshore Wind 2009 hosted a special presentation by Mark Edwards of his widely praised work ‘Hard Rain’.

Edwards has illustrated each line of Bob Dylan’s classic ‘A Hard Rain’s A-Gonna Fall’ with photographs documenting mankind's often catastrophic relationship with nature. The result is an intensely powerful show, stunning and yet disturbing. From vanishing rainforests to man-made deserts and shanty towns, Edwards brings the viewer face-to-face with the problems that define the 21st century, and their potential solutions.

Launched in 2006, the project has received international public and critical acclaim, and an exhibition of the work has been seen by 10 million visitors at over 40 venues across the world.

Edwards, one of the most widely published photographers in the world, delivered his presentation on Monday 14 September.

“…if Hard Rain is a photographic elegy it is also an impassioned cry for change. Forceful, dramatic and disturbing, it is driven by what Martin Luther King called “the fierce urgency of now”…”
British Prime Minister, Gordon Brown MP

“Mark has brought us an extraordinary account of our environmental crisis. Hard Rain is electrifying – the most moving slide presentation I have ever seen.”
Philip Noyce, Director, United Nations Global 500 Forum
